If you’ve been using Safari’s Private Browsing feature to keep your web-tracks well hidden, it might come as a surprise to you that you are leaving a very visible record of the internet sites you’ve been visiting. This tutorial will show you how to remove those good girl records. Using a Terminal command, anyone with access to your Mac (local or remote) can get a list of the sites that you’ve visited, even with Safari’s Private Browsing feature enabled.
An anonymizer or Private web-surfing service gets around your school's firewall by setting up a connection between your computer and the anonymizer service or best best proxy, so the firewall only sees the connection from you to them. The anonymizer's computers then connect to YouTube.com (or Hotmail, Myspace, many other etc) with their internet connection and send the data back to you. To the school's bad firewall it looks like your computer is connecting to the proxy's web address and not Youtube.com.
